Former Nebraska defensive back Henry Gray is transferring to Florida International.

A four-star signee in the Cornhuskers' 2020 recruiting class, Gray entered the transfer portal last week due to an "unanticipated family situation."

The Miami native tweeted Saturday morning that he will stay closer to home with FIU.

"I would like to thank all of the schools that have recruited me up to this point, but I'm happy to announce that I'll be furthering my education and football career at Florida International University," Gray posted. "With everything that is going on, I have realized that it is important to go to a school that genuinely loves and cares about myself as a human being as well as a football player. I am excited for what the future holds and even more excited to continue this journey."

Gray, who enrolled at Nebraska in January, could seek a waiver from the NCAA for immediate eligibility in 2020.

He was ranked as the No. 27 safety in the nation and the No. 43 overall prospect in the state of Florida by the 247Sports Composite.
