Texas Tech Product Spent Last Summer with the Bengals

The Jets have added P Austin McNamara to the roster.
In five seasons at Texas Tech, McNamara (6-2, 210) averaged 45.91 yards a punt which was the highest mark in school and Big 12 conference history. His 48.2-yard average his junior campaign was also a Texas Tech and Big 12 single-season mark. McNamara, who became the first Red Raider to earn All-Big 12 first team honors three times, matched an FBS record by averaging 40 yards per attempt in 37 games. He was recognized as the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year in 2023 and then was invited to play in the 2024 Senior Bowl. In his junior season, McNamara set all-time FBS, Big 12 and Texas Tech records for most punts of at least 50 yards with eight against Oklahoma State.
An undrafted free agent, McNamara signed with the Bengals and was waived last summer.
McNamara joins a special teams unit that also includes veteran P Thomas Morstead.
